Position Summary

The Pipeline Maintenance Technician will:

Assist our construction & maintenance crew to install, replace and maintain our gas and water pipelines systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for loading, unloading, and gathering tools and equipment, driving to and from the job sites, excavating ditches, laying and placing new pipe, and occasionally interacting with customers. They will work on a crew of fellow Field Technicians on a daily basis. Occasionally overtime may be required on an as needed basis.

Key Accountabilities

  • In conjunction with an experienced technician or supervisor, learns and follows standard operating procedures in performing duties in area of specialization to ensure proper and efficient functionality and operating conditions. Typical procedures generally comprise  of hands-on technical application involving activities that may include monitoring, maintaining, servicing and/or repairing production and/or plant equipment/processes.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting.
  • Learns to understand and apply Operation's objective to minimize costs while maintaining equipment quality and integrity.
  • Tracks and ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists field, plant, and/or  gathering  personnel on operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Learns requirements to be able to maintain accurate and current records and adhere to timely schedules.   
  • In conjunction with an experienced technician or supervisor, monitors and confirms all safety requirements are met to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable operation of processes, equipment, facilities, and/or assets. Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Meets established EHS expectations. Adheres to safe work practices
  • Ensures protective systems and devices are in place to prevent, detect, control or mitigate incidents.
  • Ensures operational and safety training objectives are achieved.
  • Ensures individual training is completed in accordance with operations policy.
  • Maintains standard operating procedures for improving the safety and integrity of the operation.
  • Performs administrative functions relating to operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • Candidate must within a 45 mile radius of Ulysses, Kansas
  • At least High School Grad or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License with the willingness and ability to obtain a Class A CDL license
  • Successful completion of RIVIERA physical examination including drug and alcohol testing.

Experience

  • 1 or more years of pipeline maintenance experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas production operations preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety to include personal safety, co-workers, contractors and the public.
  • Computer knowledge - Proficient utilizing MS Windows applications, and MAXIMO
  • Record and maintain neat and accurate records
  • Prioritization of work.
  • Excellent Interpersonal Communications skills in a team environment
  • Keep equipment and tools clean and secure, and maintain good "housekeeping" in work areas.
  • Knowledge and appropriate use of: Pipe cutters, threaders, hammers, screwdrivers, picks, shovels, rakes, air compressors, generators, plastic fusion machines, booms, chains, and other hand tools.

Work Environment

This role works primarily in a non-office environment. In this capacity, incumbents are regularly:

  • exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain or snow
  • required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring overnight stays and/or isolated from interaction with others and towns
  • required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull and lift objects and use apparatus to push/pull  and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more
  • subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off- road conditions such as dust, ice and snow
  • may be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments
  • may work a rotating schedule, be on shift, and/or be on call
  • follow all company safety policies and protocols
  • required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs
  • required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
  • required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency
