Position Summary

This position is responsible for creating, editing, and improving system maps and P&ID’s.  AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map, Google Earth Pro, and ESRI ARCGIS software knowledge is recommended.  Knowledge of oil and gas pipelines, compressor stations, and production equipment is preferred.  This position will also be responsible to file and maintain ROW/Easement records, and is accountable for implementing a drawing management system. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Utilize AutoCad Map for Pipeline redlines, and “surveyed” well-connects.

  • Obtain ROW surveys to scan and develop electronic files of all certified “as-built” for indexing. 
  • Work with appropriate RIVIERA representative to have Kansas One-Call maps updated annually.
  • Continually update Pipeline map and convert into Web ready format for viewing.
  • Utilize Google Earth Pro to display pipelines, compressors, and wells for analysis.
  • Continually improve map to obtain positions of all meters, taps, foreign crossings, valves, etc..
  • Work with RIVIERA Production Coordinator to eventually develop map-to-database links for analysis of pipeline system chokes to optimize production.
  • Work with RIVIERA Pipeline Techs to correct and geo-reference existing pipeline map to improve global accuracy.
  • Start an electronic spreadsheet or database for each line segment to capture design, and maintenance data. (low priority)
  • Print updated maps for WGP-KHC, RIVIERA and contractors periodically or as needed for one-call purposes, integrity management, and engineering for any valid purpose related to the WGP-KHC system.
  • Learn and utilize ESRI ArcGIS mapping and database system to and become a liaison with Houston GIS Department.
  • Organize, maintain, and update existing WGP-KHC drawings
  • Manage scanned civil, electrical, and mechanical WGP-KHC drawings.
  • Learn and utilize Drawing management system software for indexing WGP-KHC facility drawings
  • Work with Engineering firm (i.e. Englobal) to organize existing electronic files
  • Update red-lined drawings and P&ID’s in AutoCAD
  • Develop new Drawing management system compatible RIVIERA codes for WGP-KHC Asset, Facility and Discipline identifiers
  • Educate RIVIERA users and Cad Designers in the proper use of the document control system
  • Develop procedures or process for red-lining facility drawings to ensure consistency and up-to-date drawings.
  • Run reports in drawing management system to ensure identical drawings are not being used for duplicate projects.
  • Check in/out electronic and hardcopy drawing files
  • Coordinate and review drawings for technical accuracy and per RIVIERA CAD standards prior to release to Master Library
  • Release approved drawings to Master Library and append “read-only” rendition to file
  • Maintain hard-copy and electronic indexes
  • Coordinate overall Quality Control of any uploaded drawings.
  • Print updated drawings for WGP-KHC, RIVIERA and contractors as needed for, integrity management, engineering and for any valid purpose related to the WGP-KHC system.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 year technical degree or Associate's degree preferred
  • Certifications as required by trade
  • Valid drivers license
  • Successful completion of RIVIERA physical examination including drug and alcohol testing.


  • Scope and complexity of role and expectations generally involve experience gained between 2 - 4 years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates solid foundational, working knowledge and skills including adherence to codes and specialized tools/equipment as follows:
  • Understanding of required software programs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Represents the company in dealing with subcontractors; participates in training events; coordinates activities with LINN operators, technician;  provides field wide contact in the event of emergency or other significant occurrences.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability with a positive attitude and support for company’s culture and goals.
  • Knowledge and awareness of EHS requirements, practices and  issues and response procedures
  • Demonstrates trade-specific safety practices
  • Applies sound trades-specific technical knowledge and skills including adherence to codes and specialized tools/equipment.
  • Punctual and reliable job attendance.
  • Operate motor vehicle safely and legally as well as drive to remote locations to complete job tasks
  • Ability to perform daily tasks including but not limited to ensuring safe and functioning equipment/processes related to area of specialization.
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures while working independently.
  • Ability to identify a problment and supply a solution.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Able to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

Work Environment

  • Field based office environment, with approximately half of the time spent in the field.
  • Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, and twisting as necessary.
  • May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.
