Position Summary

Considered fully qualified level role. Under limited supervision, performs tasks in support of operations activities. Operations Technicians specialize in various trades / crafts and are responsible for ensuring functionality and efficient operating conditions within their area of specialization. Position involves close interatcion with LINN Operations field/plant personnel and with external vendors and subcontractors.  Commonly requests and may direct subcontractor activities.

Scope is competent in all areas of specialization. Capable of independently handling most issues that arise and taking appropriate courses of action. Identifies parameters out of normal range and takes proactive measures to adjust.

Key Accountabilities

  • Follows standard operating procedures in performing duties in area of specialization to ensure proper and efficient functionality and operating conditions. Investigates variances to identify preventive measures  in area of specialization. Determines appropriate courses of action to solve for  non-routine problems. Typical procedures generally comprise of hands-on technical application involving activities that may include monitoring, maintaining, servicing and/or repairing production and/or plant equipment and processes.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance levels. Recognizes and reports opportunities to achieve optimal performance levels. Applies solid technical knowledge and skills to troubleshoot non-routine problems. Investigates operating abnormalities and incidents to improve equipment availability and performance and to minimize maintenance requirements.
  • Applies understanding of Operation's objective to minimize costs while maintaining equipment quality and integrity.
  • Tracks and ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists field personnel on operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensures that records are accurate, current and timely in order to monitor processes such as maintenance schedules, performance levels, work/repairs performed, etc.
  • Monitors and confirms all safety requirements are met to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable operation of equipment, facilities, and/or assets. Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Meets established EHS expectations. Adheres to safe work practices
  • Ensures protective systems and devices are in place to prevent, detect, control or mitigate incidents. Investigates incident cause.
  • Assists in the development, tracking and delivery of operational efficiency targets.
  • Ensures operational and safety training objectives are achieved.
  • Ensures individual training is completed in accordance with operations policy.
  • Assists with the development of and maintains standard operating procedures for improving the safety and integrity of the operation.
  • Provides guidance and shares technical knowledge with other technicians. 
  • Performs administrative functions relating to operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 year technical degree or Associate's degree preferred
  • Certifications as required by trade
  • Valid drivers license
  • Successful completion of LINN physical examination including drug and alcohol testing.

Experience

  • Scope and complexity of role and expectations generally involve experience gained between 5 - 7  years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge and high level of technical skills including adherence to codes and specialized tools/equipment as follows:
  • Application of required software programs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Represents the company in dealing with subcontractors; participates in training events; coordinates activities with LINN operators, technician;  provides field wide contact in the event of emergency or other significant occurrences.
  • Willingness to acccept responsibility and accountability with a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge and awareness of EHS requirements, practices and  issues and response procedures
  • Demonstrates trade-specific safety practices
  • Applies strong trades-specific technical knowledge and skills including adherence to codes and specialized tools/equipment.
  • Punctual and reliable job attendance.
  • Operate motor vehicle safely and legally as well as drive to remote locations to complete job tasks
  • Ability to perform daily tasks including but not limited to ensuring safe and functioning equipment/processes related to area of specialization.
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures while working independently.
  • Ability to foresee problems and offer solutions.
  • Able to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
  • Exhibits safety leadership and is a safety mentor to contractors and other employees.
  • Capable of providing some supervision of special projects/initiatives with oversight.
  • Ability to accept high levels of responsibility and initiative to execute them.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Work Environment

This role works primarily in a non-office environment. In this capacity, incumbents are regularly:

  • Exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain, or snow.
  • Required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring overnight stays and/or isolated from interaction with others and towns.
  • Required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull and lift objects, and use apparatus to push/pull and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
  • Subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes, or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off- road conditions such as dust, ice, and snow.
  • May be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments.
  • May work a rotating schedule, shift, and/or be on call.
  • Follow all company safety policies and protocols.
  • Required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs.
  • Required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
  • Required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency.
