Position Summary

Under moderate supervision, responsible for performing daily operational checks of assigned wells and production facilities. Makes daily decisions within established guidelines regarding production levels and lease operating expense. Assists less experienced operators.  Works with specialists and/ or foreman to coordinate work and perform minor repairs on assigned facilities within guidance or training limitations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Performs operational checks of assigned wells and facilities to ensure proper functionality and compliance with company safety and environmental standards.  
  • Measures and records volumes, pressures, temperatures and other readings as required.
  • Makes daily decisions within established guidelines regarding production levels and lease operating expense.
  • Performs maintenance, minor repairs and adjustments on surface production and injection equipment. Identifies and handles routine problems within training limitations and notifies supervisor of necessary additional work and repairs.
  • May test wells to determine production rates and problems.
  • Maintains daily production and injection rates within established guidelines.
  • Maintains assigned company equipment including vehicles, tools, computer, etc. 
  • Complies with RIVIERA’s safety and environmental programs.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate documentation on all work performed.
  • Complies with all RIVIERA’s policies and procedures. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
  • Expected to begin to identify ideas for optimization, cost savings and safety best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid DOT Class A or B Driver’s License
  • Successful completion of RIVIERA physical examination including drug & alcohol testing.

Experience

  • Scope and complexity of role and expectations generally involve experience gained between 2 - 4 years of related experience.
  • Proven safety experience/training regarding oil and gas operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability with a positive attitude.
  • Broad knowledge and awareness of EHS requirements, practices and  issues and response procedures.
  • Punctual and reliable job attendance.
  • Operate motor vehicle safely and legally as well as drive to remote locations to complete job tasks.
  • Verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Position requires ability to perform mathematical functions.
  • Working understanding of required software programs.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks including, but not limited to, gauging, minor adjustments, and repairs.
  • Knowledge of production equipment workings, basic hand tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Possess a moderate level of understanding of practical field mechanics and physics.
  • Applies necessary skills to perform minor repairs on equipment.
  • Ability to identify a problem and supply a solution.
  • Knowledge of applicable EH&S policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures while working independently.

Work Environment

This role works primarily in a field environment. In this capacity, incumbents are regularly:

  • Exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain or snow.
  • Required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring overnight stays.
  • Required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull and lift objects and use apparatus to push/pull  and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
  • Subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles and potentially combustible components.
  • Communicate and deal with external client and subcontractor contacts.
  • fFllow all company safety policies and protocols.
  • Required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs.
  • Required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
  • Required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency.
